This was to be a quick pastel study at scale for a large oil painting, Now I like it for itself, and it's on newsprint. Not exactly archival.

Abiquiu Chamisa
The chamisa last fall were beautiful. Blowing in the wind. So graceful. And soft yellow.
Whetstone Brook
And more trees. This is a quick sketch that I would like to develop again, larger, more carefully, or not.
Mountains Imagined
Spring in the imagined mountains.
Pink on Orange
Analogous colors and marks.
Twilight
Trees at twilight. The light was behind me and there was just a moment when the tops of everything turned bright orange, and then it got dark.
Sunset
Working from earlier pastel sketches, I'm starting to paint less specifically with more interest in warm and cool colors and darks and lights. Also I'm experimenting with making marks.
Spring
Small pastel study of a spring flower. Much of the spring color here got frosted last week so what's left is especially beautiful.
